The body of the Dilini Yasoda which was found packed in a travelling bag dumped at Dam Street was discovered a few days ago by Dam Street police. According to police, the postmortem will be conducted after receiving the DNA results of the body.
Until then, the body will be stored at the Police morgue, Colombo. Police are now investigating whether the Dilini Yasoda was murdered and then beheaded or not, however, according to the doctor at the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer’s, the answer for this can be gained after the post mortem.
Police also suspect whether Dilini was strangled to death before her neck cut off or not. However, Colombo Judicial Medical Officer’s Office says that some parts of the body have already sent for further investigations to the Government Analyst’s Department.
Police investigations are now being carried out to find the head of the Dilini who was found in a travelling bag on Dam Street. According to Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana, a special police team is now investigating and scheduled to commence the investigations on this.
This team includes the OIC of Dam Street police station and Aduruppu Street police station. According to police, the investigations will not be completed until the head of the Dilini was found. Police also conducting special investigations on both sides of the Kelani River.
Shashika Nisansala: Shashika Nisansala Jayasumana was born on 28 September 1981 in Deraniyagala. She completed her primary education at Udapola Primary School and then transferred to Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda to complete her higher studies.
After successfully passed advanced level examination she entered the University of Kelaniya in 2002. Currently, Shashika Nisansala is a famous vocalist and a producer in the Sri Lankan music industry. She won the SLIM-Nielsen Peoples Award five times continuously since 2016 for the Most Popular Female Singer.
At the University of Kelaniya, she completed Bachelor of Arts (Special) degree in Fine Arts in 2005. Thereafter, Shashika completed her Master’s Degree in 2007 and obtain a Master of Arts qualification. According to a recent newspaper interview, Shahika said that she started playing keyboard and singing when she was 5 years.
At a small age, Shashika has participated in Rupavahini Muthuhara children program and Udars musical programs. During her higher studies in Anula Vidyalaya in Nugegoda, she got an opportunity to participate for the ‘Thurunu Shakthi’ singing competition conducted by Sri Lanka National Youth Services Council.
Thurunu Shakthi was telecasted by National Rupavahini at 7.00 pm on every Wednesdays. Shashika Nisansala was able to win the singing contest and this can be the turning point of her career.
Thereafter, She released her first music album in 2004. With her new music album, she was able to gain huge popularity within a short period of time. Since then she started to participate in outdoor musical shows across the Island. Shashika released her first video album in 2010.
In 2019 March 30th, Chamara Weerasingha and Shashika sang ‘Kaurunda Kauluwa Wahuwe’ song with Flash-Back band at an outdoor musical concert in Doha Qatar. At the beginning of the song, Chamara was not present on the stage, however, Shashika started singing the song alone. You can watch the video on YouTube by this link.
