Swarna Malwaarachchi started her acting career while she was a schoolgirl. Her first movie was 'Sath Samudhura' which was released in 1966, directed by Siri Gunasingha. Swarna Malwarachchi is an award winning actress in Sinhala cinema and popular as the 'Golden Star of Sri Lankan Film Industry'. Swarna Malawarachchi was the only actress who holds the highest number of ' Best Actress' awards in Sinhala Cinema.


In 1970, Swarna left Sri Lanka for four years and lived abroad. She returned in 1974 and acted in 'Sankhapali which was released in 1980. Her most latest moview was released in 2016, 'Age Asa Aga' which was also an adard winning movie, there she acted as 'Rathmali Kekunawala'.  
 

In 1981, Swarna won 'Best Actress Award in Presidental Award ceremony for the movie of 'Hansa Vilak'. In 1982, she won 'Best Actress Award' in OCIC Awards Ceremony for the movie of 'Ridi Nimnaya'. In 1983, Swarna won 'Best Actress Award' for the 'Dadayama' Movie from OCIC Awards and Sarasawiya Awards Ceremonies.

Swarna Mallawarachchi

Ravindra Randeniya is a Sri Lankan former politician and an award-winning actor. He was born in 1945 on June 5th in Dalugama, Kelaniya. Though many of his fans known him as Ravindra Randeniya, his birth name was Boniface Perera. Ravindra Randeniya's family is popular for brace manufacturing in Kiribathgoda.

 

Even today they have several brace shops in Kiribathgoda city. Ravindra completed his primary education at St. Benedict College in Kotehena. Thereafter, he moved to Colombo Ananda College for his higher educations. However, he was not able to pass his advanced level examination and then decided to join his family business of manufacturing brace items.

 

Though he was not a success with his higher education, he was interested in the Sri Lankan film industry. Therefore, he followed a two years course in theatre decor and screenwriting at Lionel Wendt Theatre Workshop in Dematagoda in 1969. During the 1970s, Ravindra met a popular film director Lester James Peries and got an opportunity to participate in his 'Dasa Nisa' movie. This was the turning point of Ravindra Randeniya's carrier as the movie became well famous within a short time.
 

In 1974 October 31st, Ravindra Randeniya married a fellow actress Preethi Pramila Senevirathna. The wedding ceremony was held at the Hilton Hotel in Colombo and there were more than three hundred visitors, relations and artists participated.

 

Ravindra and Preethi have a daughter and two sons. Daughter is Umayangana Indrachapa Randeniya and two sons are Sameera Manabarana Randeniya and Sachindra Nirmal Randeniya.

 

According to a recent television channel interview, Ravindra mentioned that he did not want his children to follow his footsteps and enter into the film industry. However, currently, the daughter is in the Medical College and both sons are living in Australia.

 

In 2000, Ravindra Randeniya entered into Sri Lankan Politics and elected to Sri Lanka parliament through United National Party. However, in 2004, he retired from politics and currently living in Kelaniya Kiribathgoda with his wife.

 

He is now fully engaged in his family business as there's no other person to take care of them.
